GLOBAL CITIZENS

TED: Ideas Worth Spreading

According to the TED website (read more), TEDTalks began as a simple attempt to share what happens at TED with the world. Under the moniker "ideas worth spreading," talks were released online. They rapidly attracted a global audience in the millions. Indeed, the reaction was so enthusiastic that the entire TED website has been re-engineered around TEDTalks, with the goal of giving everyone on-demand access to the world's most inspiring voices.

Today, TED is therefore best thought of as a global community. It's a community welcoming people from every discipline and culture who have just two things in common: they seek a deeper understanding of the world, and they hope to turn that understanding into a better future for us all. Visit TED.

THE ACADEMY TED PROJECT

The purpose of this project is to present to each other the stories of imaginative and intelligent people, who are currently making a positive and profound difference all over the globe. We hope that these presentations will provide you with ideas about how you can use your own imagination and intelligence in ways that you've never dreamed. In many ways, the people at TED remind us a lot of you. Our hope is that their projects will inspire you to make a positive difference in the world.

Your group will design and make a presentation about one of the TED presenters. Simply follow the steps below to complete the project. Your presentation will be given during a meeting of all Academy levels at the GBS Lyceum on XXXXXX.

STEP 1: Decide which of these 10 videos piques your interest. All the TED videos are here.

STEP 2: After you decide which one of these 10 videos interests you most, sign up for the one you will present. How?

STEP 3: Follow these guidelines to create your presentation

Each group has its own Wiki page where you'll create the presentation and a discussion area where you share ideas and plan (see the "discussion" tab at the top of the your group's Wiki page).
